Introducing the Brindabella range
The Brindabellas are an ancient mountain range on the border of New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory. It is from these mountains and their sub alpine environment that this new range of tableware draws its inspiration. The soft and undulating rims of the tableware reference the profile of the mountains against the Western skyline. There are no jagged peaks here.
Some people believe the name "Brindy brindy" was a local term meaning water running over rocks and bella was added by the Europeans from the Italian bella vista, meaning "beautiful view". The Brindabella range draws it colours of mossy brown and peat from the rivers and rocks of this uniquely Australian landscape.
Fly fishing in the Brindabellas
The soft swirl in the centre of the casual plates in this range suggest the swirls so often seen in the river, with the ‘step’ in the formal plate linking the river to the bank where water meets land.
The spotted glaze is reminiscent of the skin of the brown and rainbow trout I catch and release throughout a day filled with beauty, solitude and excitement.
The black rims evoke the horizon at the end of a day spent fly fishing in the crystal waters found in the Brindabella Ranges.
